Winter beauties in Turkey
Held in the Black Sea region, the festival was initially a snowmen making competition. The 13th Ayder Snow Festival took place from Jan. The villagers recently revived the ancient boards their ancestors used as transportation hundreds of years ago. One-centimeter thick, centimeters wide and about centimeters long, the ancient boards are used with a stick that helps the passenger change direction. Located on the Aegean coast of Turkey, the festival offers almond treats, concerts and dancing as well as gorgeous views. The event is expected to draw over 12, college students from 24 different cities as well as some vendors. The event will host a concert by famous Turkish band Athena as well as others, along with DJ sets.
Uludag Ski Centre, covering the two hills of Fatintepe and Kusaklikaya, is 30 minutes from Bursa city centre, and ideal for skiers who either want a day trip or an overnight stay. Although already a firm favourite of Turks, its popularity grows every year, as more foreigners arrive to find out what the hype is all about. The ski centre, starting at an altitude of meters, extends to a summit of metres and although is yet to reach the popularity of its French Alps counterparts, it offers fantastic options for anyone looking to ski in Turkey. After Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire, monks lived in 28 monasteries throughout the region until the 8th century. Called Olympos Misios in ancient times, these days, its fame is less about religion and mythology and more about the great outdoors. Uludag National Park is rich with flora and fauna. As well as offering winter tourism sports, summer activities include camping, trekking and daily picnic activities.
